Sachika Spring/Summer 2012

Having worked with the dynamic fashion duo, Sachika, before they descended upon New York Fashion week–especially after that infamous Coco dress–I was excited to see what they had in store for S/S 2012. Now in their third season showcasing in Elle magazine’s Style 360 fashion show, their shows have been nothing less than entertaining and full of surprises. Starting the show was a dance number by Team Ohh Dance and Drumadicts, and a closing performance by singer Wynter Gordon. R&B artist Omarion, and reality housewives Nene Leakes, Jennifer Williams and Gloria Govan were front row. Former America’s Next Top Model contestant Nik Pace was among the runway lineup as well.

Now on to my fave part–the creative inspiration and beauty look! Years ago, Sachika creators To-Tam & To-Nya came across a painting of a mermaid in the sea. Filled with shades of blue, purple, sea green, it became their building block for their latest collection, “Mermaid Paradise: Dance With the Ocean.” No matter the theme, the beauty look is always dramatic!

Key makeup artist Viktorija Bowers for BeautiControl fused midnight blue, turquoise, and gold tones on the top and bottom of the eyelid, blended out to the temples, complimenting the sea life motif. She pulled each color from BeautiControl’s  Color Intense Shadow Trios in Mirage, Red Carpet Ready and Twilight, creating a seamless blend of colors along the eyelid, with the touch of gold in the inner corners of the eyes. The Spectaculash Mascara in black finished off the eyes.

The lips were matte with a layer of foundation. The face was kept clean for balance, with the exception of fine-specs of glitter highlighting the cheekbones to give a wet effect. “The painting had little bit of glitter so I utilized that to represent water and the light reflecting on it,” said Bowers.

Hair leads Whitney Blischke and Damian added more drama to the look with long, textured hair accented bright bronze-colored extensions, provided by Swigch’d. The front of the hair was pulled back with crimped tendrils to frame the face. The nails even had a life of it’s own! The team from Lacquer Lounge used a metallic blue-green base with jeweled crystals accenting each finger and shaped into an oval.

Overall the collection was impressive, especially the three dress designs inspired by Stoli Vodka. Below is my fave dress, complete with a plunging neckline, butterfly sleeves and a high slit!

I look forward to seeing the twins’ designs in a few high-end retailers soon! Bravo!
