This past Wednesday 9/3/08, I had the pleasure of working on the makeup team for Geren Ford. She’s an awesome LA-based designer, who recently collaborated with Urban Outfitters. But most of her stuff can be found at Nordstrom, Barney’s and Henri Bendel.

A bunch of thanks goes out to the BEST makeup artist Stephanie Flor for recommending me to Lori Taylor, celeb makeup artist for Smashbox Cosmetics. Lori’s out in LA, so Stephanie was the lead makeup artist/head b*tch in charge! To all the MUAs who ask, “How did you get this?” the answer is – connections + following-up + persistence = lots of gigs!

The show took place at the Bowery Hotel in SoHo. The humidity, black outfit, combined with carrying my makeup kit and purse left me drenched in sweat by the time I arrived.  Stephanie prepared us with the face sheets prior to the event, and the products to use were conveniently at my station. I worked on 2 models – one of  whom is a dead-ringer for Naomi Campbell!

As for the 2nd model, Kelly Bruce, a photographer, was taking special shots of her backstage. She was actually shooting a beauty story that’s going to be featured on NylonMag.com! Stephanie worked on her foundation, so I can’t take full credit for the makeup. But I finished it off with eyes, lashes, and the whole look. Check out the photos below:
