Cafe with Free Wifi…or Free Wifi with a Cafe?
It’s amazing how the Internet and technology brings so much change, yet some things stay the same. Had to run some errands in Queens and Brooklyn, and I was desperate to find a place to park my butt to get some work done on my laptop. I googled “free wifi” and “williamsburg” and found Atlas Cafe on Havemeyer & Grand.
I wasn’t bothered by a viewer’s comment on how it’s a computer lab with coffee served (not a cafe w/ free wifi). Lo and behold, that’s all I saw! About 10 laptops (1/2 of them Macs – woohoo!), and mine made 11. I tried to get as much paperwork done before I whipped out my computer, but I just had to blog about this. Luckily, I found a little spot in the corner so not to feel conformist.
Spending $8 on iced coffee & a ham/cheese panini (aka sandwich) just to cruise the web for a few hours was quite a value! If only my damn camera phone was on so I could capture this moment, but it’s not so unique in our computer society.
