REVIEW: PrettyCity.com Beauty Sample Sale
As publicized before, I had the pleasure of attending PrettyCity.com’s first beauty sample sale in NYC. Aside from the press pass, I like to attend these events to get a glimpse as to what products are hot right now, and of course, network, network, network!
As soon as I came in, a PrettyCity staff member greeted me with a goodie bag, and surprisingly, it wasn’t overcrowded and stuffy. As I explored the space, I was happy to see that they had coat check! I was expecting to lug my laptop on my arm as I went to the various tables. Drinks were served by (semi) attractive waiters and bartenders, courtesy of Cointreau and V2 Vodka.
One of the highlights of the night was getting a styling demo done by Leslie, owner of Capelli D’Oro, a luxe salon on Lexington Avenue. He taught me how to make fingerwaves using my handy-dandy straightening iron! Look at the fabulosity (pictured with Leslie):
As you can tell from my “flawless” (haha) face, I also treated myself to a makeover at the Jane Iredale cosmetics table. It was purely for market research! As a makeup artist, it’s always good to switch roles once in a while and know how it feels to get my makeup done – it always makes way for improvement.

Me and (l-r) my girl Chantelle, and our new friends Val & Bernie. C’mon, what’s a beauty event without making new friends?…
…Not to mention, gift bags! Courtesy of a bunch of companies, such as American Laser Center, Lumene, etc. etc.
Altogether it was fun event – what made it memorable was the intimacy of the space and the fact that it wasn’t overwhelming (like some other events). I simply went up to the makeup artists and hair stylists for demos, without waiting for an obnoxious long time. Not to mention, I wasn’t sweating my butt off just trying to get a cocktail! I’m looking forward to the next one!
